After retiring from teaching at St. Philip the Apostle school in Dallas, I became involved in a very important ministry known as C.A.M. (Christian Assistance Ministry). This program provides food and clothing to the homeless and poor. We, the volunteers, try to the best of our ability to meet the needs of those in need regardless of their religious affiliation. Jesus challenges all of to respond to the immediate needs of those around us. This spirituality demands that we extend kindness into the ordinary situations of daily life. I take great delight in working at C.A.M. However, it can also be a challenge due, in part, to a lack of sufficient suitable clothing, particularly jeans for men. Our clients are extremely grateful for what we can do for them and our service is without a doubt an important spiritual virtue that Jesus requires of us.
